July 2017
Message from the Vice President
This is the inaugural monthly newsletter for the division to better build our community and our communications going forward. We have had a great FY17 and look forward to a strong FY18. It has been a busy year for all of us with a myriad of activities. As President Schatzel has gotten to know us, her commitment to us has resulted in a 50% increase in our base state funding level. I have been working diligently with Provost Chandler on several projects and initiatives that will raise our stature within the University. I am also working very closely with all of the other VPs and academic officers to ensure that they know about the great work we have done, can do and will do going forward. In closing, I want to thank each and every one of you for all of the hard work and dedication that you bring to our division each and every morning. Without your efforts and perseverance, we would not be where we are today.
A&F Updates
AED Locations Two AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) units are located at 7400 York (3rd floor hallway and Room 113) as well as two at the Administration Building (1st floor lobby and 3rd floor lobby, outside DIAR offices). While these machines are very easy to use and do not require any experience to operate, it is always good to familiarize yourself with how the equipment works. Watch Demo Video
July 20 Parking Update Over 250 people will attend the Osher Fall Preview Event on Thursday, July 20. Parking will be tight! Please park toward the back of the back church lot that day. People will begin arriving by 8:30 a.m. with guests arriving by 9:15 a.m. The program ends at noon. At that time, please be patient as our current and prospective members exit the parking lot. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but appreciate your generosity and patience on July 20. Thank you!

IT News
Duo Multi-Factor Authentication is coming to TU. Individuals enrolled in Duo will login into designated TU systems with their NetID as per usual, and then “authenticate” using a second method such as a smartphone or landline. Methods of notifications can be chosen, and the options include receiving a push notification from the downloaded Duo app, a text message or a phone call. OTS Training provides self-help documents on how to enroll devices, as it is not automatic.
Social Committee Updates
August Cookout: This is a great opportunity to prepare your favorite BBQ foods and hang out while the smell of grilled goodies tempts you to go back for seconds and maybe even thirds. A few more details need to be ironed out but an announcement will be made in the next week or two.
Food Trucks: And for those of you foodies who can’t resist a food truck, the social committee is exploring opportunities to interact with food trucks this summer. We can’t tell you more, but promise that there is more to come later.
TU Football Tailgate: Last thing to mention is that we are planning a tailgate party for a fall TU football game. No dates on this activity yet but if anybody wants to help plan, just contact any member of the social committee.
