Although 2020 began just like any other, it turned out to be unlike any we’ve seen before. Like most everyone reading this, my team in TU’s Division of Strategic Partnerships and Applied Research switched gears on Friday, March 13 and quickly transitioned to remote work environments.
Much of our work involves community and business partners and, like you, we had to adjust the way we work and do business.
- We launched the StarTUp accelerator and found new ways to support our region's entrepreneurs
- We took our signature events and convenings to a virtual format
- We helped hundreds of Osher members utilize Zoom in pursuit of lifelong learning
- We connected partners with critical resources to support their missions and communities
- We analyzed the impact of COVID-19 on our communities
- We launched a new program to match student employment with COVID-19 responsive community-engaged research projects
Our year in review highlights these and more accomplishments, impacts, and stories from the past twelve months. As you’ll see, COVID-19 impacted most of what we do—but I'm proud my team met the challenges head on and came out stronger.
I want to thank you for taking the time to read this email and invite you to reach out with any questions about the Division and our work.
On behalf of my team at Towson University, stay safe and happy holidays. Wishing you a healthy and happy new year.
Daraius Irani, Ph.D. Vice President Strategic Partnerships & Applied Research
