Looming railroad strike could cripple U.S. economy in two weeks Newsweek, November 21, 2022
On November 21, a major rail union narrowly rejected the contract negotiated by the White House, drastically increasing the odds of a railroad strike. Railroad workers have asked for more paid leave, a demand which was not satisfied by the rejected contract. RESI Chief Economist Daraius Irani had previously spoken with Newsweek, stating that a strike could lead to an increase in prices, given that so many goods and materials are carried across the United States by train.
