Treat yourself
It’s December, the season of Top 10 lists, reflections, and holiday cheer. At least that’s what we’ve become accustomed to over the years. But, this year, you can decide that your Top 10 list has just five items. You can reflect on why some people are more apt to hoard toilet paper while others are more likely to bake sourdough bread. And you can take a brief break from holiday cheer every now and again to take a huge sigh and to throw your hands up at 2020. I think you’ve earned it! If you are so inclined, however, dance as if no one is watching (and who cares if they are?!), watch your favorite holiday movie, and sip on some chocolatey hot cocoa. Heck, do what you want—within reason, of course—this year is the year to make exceptions to the rule. Sure, this is coming from someone who celebrated Thanksgiving with crab cakes instead of turkey, but I think that it’s decent advice in a year when everything has been so unusual. It’s a year to revel in comfort foods and self-care. If something makes you happy—and it’s safe—do it! If, unlike me, you are not in the “one for them, one for me” camp of holiday shopping, that’s okay, but do something nice for yourself anyway. I insist!
Stay safe and healthy,
