We're Going Green
Beginning this semester, we will be working to be more environmentally aware and will take steps to promote sustainability. As part of Towson University, Osher shares the priority of improving environmental health and well-being. The Osher Green Team has been instrumental in assisting Osher staff with the goal of building sustainability through an initiative to improve Osher recycling efforts. The Green Team is comprised of Osher members who have been meeting together to discuss topics related to environmental issues. The Green Team and Osher staff members have worked together along with Towson University’s Office of Sustainability as we embark on this effort. This semester you will see:
• New trash receptacles in the hospitality area: one for recycling, one for landfill trash, and one for compost. Each receptacle will have signage that displays what items to put in the receptacle.
• New receptacles for landfill and recycling in the classroom spaces.
• Green Team members and Social/Hospitality Committee members who will be on hand the first week of classes to help if there are any questions relating to the receptacles.
Please take time to place any trash in the proper place. This is a first step in Osher’s initiative to take action and improve sustainability. Learn more about Towson University’s campus-wide efforts.
Room Updates
If you don’t recognize room 113B from last semester, that’s because it’s been totally transformed into a classroom space complete with comfortable seating and an 86” LCD screen. The information table can now be found in the back of room 101. Room 105—across the hall from room 101—is now available for Osher students to eat lunch and will also be used for discussion groups and book club meetings. Between classes, you are also welcome to take lunch in room 113B or in room 101. As always, be considerate and clean up after lunch. Enjoy the new spaces!
