Stuffed with Gratitude
I’ve never kept a diary or a journal—unless you count a food journal, which I still keep and which I have decided is the most boring type of journal. If anyone ever finds my food journal, they will be bored to tears, learning that I have had Special K protein cereal with 1% milk for breakfast two out of three days this week. A while back, I think it was Oprah who got everyone on a kick about gratitude journals. If it wasn’t Oprah, she’s certainly getting all of the credit. And while I may not keep a gratitude journal, I think it’s a fantastic idea to think about the things—big and small—there are to be grateful for in this world. It turns out there are quite a few: the last fragments of a hot pink sunset before nightfall, a fast-moving check-out line at the supermarket, a surprise phone call from an old friend, the cozy blanket that I got at Sam’s Club of all places...The list could go on and on and on. But it’s not complete without mentioning the gratitude that I have for all of the wonderful people who fill my life—and that includes the amazing people that I’ve met through Osher! While I don’t jot it down in a journal every day, I do think about it often: I’m very lucky to be doing what I do. I may have noted the stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and fried chicken (no turkey for me!) in my food journal on Thanksgiving, but I have been thinking all along about how grateful I am to all my Osher folks—and that means you! If I haven’t said so lately, “Thank you!”
Stay safe and healthy,
Tracy Jacobs
