Message from the Vice President
Fall is upon us and it is exciting times at the Division of Strategic Partnerships and Applied Research. As many of you know, we have hired the new executive director of entrepreneurship, Dr. Nick Hammond. We now have an advisory board of external individuals who also are members of the President’s Board of Visitors. This is the first time that we have had an advisory board and it will be a game changer for us. Members include Jeff Rosen, Ted Zaleski, Nancy Grasmick, Myrna Cardin, Don Fry, Suzy Ganz, Larry Letow, Edna Primrose, and Dan White.

Center for GIS
CGIS worked with MD. Dept. of Agriculture to launch the MD Cover Crop Program application in spring 2017. We are now working to make the application iPad compliant, which includes some particularly challenging tasks involving working with the map, such as editing field boundaries. Being able to take the iPad into the field to perform routine inspections represents a big step forward in modernizing the program.
