On the rise.
In less than a month, TU will mark one year since the launch of RISE, the Campaign for Towson University.
There has been great momentum around our culture of philanthropy in the last 12 months, and I'm so thankful that our community has rallied behind a common goal: supporting student success.
It is because the entire TU community is aligned behind that mission that I can say with certainty that Towson University is on the rise.
On International Women's Day, I had the pleasure of welcoming more than 150 guests to South Campus Pavilion for the launch of the Tall-Wiedefeld Society. Surrounded by many women who are leaders of that culture of philanthropy within our community, I was humbled as we began the first women's giving society at TU — named for two of the five women to have served as president at our university. I look forward to the opportunities the Tall-Wiedefeld Society will create for student success at TU.
March also brought us the opportunity to visit alums over a crab feast at Orioles Spring Training in Sarasota, Fla., and a key event to help launch the Dr. Nancy Grasmick Leadership Institute, examining the 'Future of Work.' And earlier this spring term, we celebrated our annual TU Foundation Awards — grants that are funding interdisciplinary research opportunities for undergraduate students.
This extraordinary community has risen to the challenge to accelerate momentum for our region and to foster opportunities that place student success first. Alongside this campaign, we're not simply imagining a greater future, we're creating one.
There is so much to be proud of at Towson University, and through strong leadership on and around campus, there are indeed great things ahead!
Sincerely,
Kim Schatzel, Ph.D.
