From my desk: News from President Schatzel

A culture of philanthropy.

In this season of giving, I give thanks to the Towson University community.

This is an extraordinary community. Our students are pushing possibilities and making new discoveries. Our faculty and staff are driving new research and collaborating with community and business partners. At TU, accelerating momentum for our state and providing leadership for the public good is what we do. And we do it alongside a community that supports our mission to put student success first.

This year has been a tremendous one for TU. In the spring, we launched RISE, the Campaign for Towson University, to empower our students and graduates to thrive, achieve and lead. The launch of the campaign was a call to action and our community heard that call. This historic campaign aims to raise $100 million in support of academic excellence, student success, faculty research and community outreach. As of Thanksgiving, we’re more than 75 percent of the way to achieving this significant goal, thanks to the incredible support of our community and a growing culture of philanthropy at TU.

And as I shared in my message to campus before Thanksgiving break, we all should take this holiday season for a much-needed moment to pause, reflect and remember everything and everyone we are grateful for.

I’m most grateful for the TU community. For here, there is much to be proud of, and there are truly great things ahead!

Sincerely,

Signature

Kim Schatzel, Ph.D.
