A great time to be a Tiger.
Towson University recently celebrated more than 9,150 graduates through ten commencement ceremonies over five amazing days at Unitas Stadium. For many graduates it was a long-awaited celebration, more than a year in the making—a true celebration, complete with pomp, circumstance and—thankfully—plenty of sunshine.
It is indeed a great time to be a Tiger!
The week-long celebration felt like a much-needed return to normalcy for our community, as we look to fall and a return to full on-campus living and learning at TU.
When our community gathers again this fall, we'll have construction underway on our new College of Health Professions building, and the expansion of the University Union will be complete to tie together our student activities district in the heart of campus.
Our investment goes beyond buildings, though.
Over the next three fiscal years, TU is investing more than $16.3M in Academic Affairs to expand the resources available for research and scholarly and creative work and to advance TU's position as a top-100 national public institution. This investment is the first step to prepare TU, under the leadership of Provost Perreault and the deans of the colleges, to explore TU’s aspiration to achieve a Carnegie Classification as an R2–Doctoral University with High Research Activity.
There's much to be proud of at Towson University, and there are truly great things ahead!
Sincerely,
Kim Schatzel, Ph.D.
