From my desk: News from President Schatzel

Moving forward.

As we kick off the spring term, there is much to look forward to in 2021.

At TU, we are welcoming students back to campus this spring, and last week, I got to see our Tigers and their families during move-in. The campus looked fantastic and, despite the chilly temperatures, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.

Our Tigers will find new outdoor spaces to gather—like Chapman Quad—and progress continuing on transformative construction projects amid the academic core of our campus—like the gleaming, state-of-the-art Science Complex along York Road, where we'll hold a ribbon cutting later this spring.

In Annapolis, where there are more than a dozen Tigers serving our state, we'll take the final steps in our continued pursuit of state funding to break ground on the first building to house the College of Health Professions in one location. The past year has only highlighted TU's impact upon our region as Maryland's largest provider of health care professionals.

We are so fortunate to have the support of our entire community, including a record-breaking gift by an alum and the thousands of donations that have supported our student emergency fund.

I'm so proud of the efforts of our students, faculty, staff and TU community through this past year. We've shown how we can remain #TUtogether in spite of the pandemic.

So, in 2021, we will keep moving forward as only Tigers can—with hope for what is to come.

There's much to be proud of at Towson University, and there are truly great things ahead!
