Reflecting Maryland.
This week marks the first days of classes for the fall semester for more than 20,000 students on campus at Towson University. I got to meet so many of them during move-in last week–and they’re as excited as we are to be back on campus.
Our new students include the most diverse first-year student class on record. TU's student population is increasingly representative of the State of Maryland–which now has a majority minority population, according to the most recent census data.
TU is a national leader in inclusive excellence, where all students thrive, supported by a campus community where you can bring your whole self–to grow, to seek out opportunities, and to take advantage of TU's extraordinary momentum.
Our students will be able to engage with new facilities around campus–including the new Science Complex, the largest academic space on campus, as well as the expanded University Union, which enhances the student life district in the core of campus. We’ve also broken ground on a new College of Health Professions building, which will–for the first time–place all of the research and the instruction under one roof for our health professions faculty and students.
We look forward to welcoming our community back to campus to experience all that TU has to offer. And our faculty and staff are working hard with one singular focus–continuing to put our students' success first.
There's much to be proud of at Towson University, and there are truly great things ahead!
Sincerely,
Kim Schatzel, Ph.D.
