Message from the President

In my Spring Address on April 13, I announced that TU will convert the Towson Marriott Hotel to student housing beginning in the 2018 fall semester. As an anchor institution in Greater Baltimore, converting this university-owned building will strengthen our connection to the core of downtown Towson. It will also help TU meet the strong housing demand for transfer, international and graduate students and help offset a 2,000 to 2,500-bed shortage.

As TU’s presence and impact in Greater Baltimore continues to grow, on Monday we will celebrate the 10th year of the BTU Partnerships Showcase, formerly known as the Partnerships Showcase. The popular event has expanded to SECU Arena to help accommodate the more than 40 Towson University centers, institutes and programs featured this year.

Finally, we are expecting a record-breaking community service day for TU’s Big Event on Saturday. More than 2,300 Towson University students, faculty, and staff registered to volunteer to help local homeowners and non-profits on more than 200 projects. The annual event has become a proud tradition, and this year I’m hosting a BBQ at Unitas Stadium to thank the volunteers and invite them to join the spring football game with me. I hope you can come out to join us as we cheer on all of our Tigers.
