Participles - Exercise 5

Directions:  Locate the participle in each sentence.  Type your answer into the box below the sentence. When you are finished, click the "Check My Work" button at the bottom of the page to check your answers.

Note: If the participle is part of a participial phrase, include the whole phrase in your answer.

1.  We felt sorry for the child standing in the corner.



2.  The snake coiled around the tree is poisonous.



3.  The crowd expected a speech from the candidate elected by the majority.



4.  Walking slowly toward the door, Carol carefully looked for intruders.



5.  Joe was lulled into a false sense of security by the man advertising the new product.



6.  He set up the timer behind the table sitting next to the sofa.



7.  All students buying lunch should proceed to the cafeteria.



8.  The damaged portion was sent to a repair shop.



9.  Before the incident, someone saw a man holding a large briefcase.
