What Day is It?
As I write this, it is National Lemon Cream Pie Day, Square Dancing Day, Throw Out Your Leftovers Day, Chadwick Boseman Day (in honor of the late “Black Panther” star’s birthday), and of course, it’s also Giving Tuesday. I know this because not only did I get a zillion emails to tell me, but I also sent out an email that you probably received. The email appeals to Osher members and friends to consider donating to Osher on Giving Tuesday or on any day. Even though Thanksgiving was last week, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has given a gift to Osher at Towson University. Whether the gifts are grand or modest, they all add up to an amazing show of support for a program that is extremely important to so many people. I can see how impactful donations to Osher have been over the last several years and I know that continued support will be necessary to enable the program to thrive into the future. Gifts to the Osher Excellence Fund help to assist with facility rentals, instructor honoraria, and keeping the program affordable and accessible even as operational expenses continue to rise. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making a gift to Osher, whatever the day. To learn more about how to donate, please scroll down to the end of this newsletter. By the time you have a chance to read this message, it will no longer be Giving Tuesday. It will be Eat a Red Apple Day, National Peppermint Bark Day, Rosa Parks Day, and National Cookie Cutter Day. The calendar of national days has some pretty strange entries: National Sock Day (12/4), Humiliation Day (1/3), National Crab Rangoon Day (2/13), Forgive Mom and Dad Day (3/18), and National Trombone Players Day (4/1), to name a few. If you didn’t know this, it’s okay, because as lifelong learners, each and every day we can celebrate learning something new.
Stay safe and healthy,
Tracy Jacobs
