Where are they now?

Have you ever thought about someone in your past and wondered what they are doing now? Thanks to Google and social media, it’s not too difficult to find out. That’s generally true, but recently I was thinking back to a fellow student who went to my college, and I couldn’t find any information about her. We took several classes together, but I never really got to know her. Her name was Rebecca. She was beautiful and charismatic. In art class, she could deftly draw any likeness with unbelievable ease. The young woman in one of her portraits looked just like a famous model of the time. I thought for sure she had copied the picture from a magazine, but oh no, it was a drawing of her equally gorgeous sister. Rebecca was a talented artist, but she was also a gifted singer who performed in the choir. She could have easily been in that 1% who hit it big in art or music, but alas, she was pursuing a degree in science, hoping to eventually become a doctor. Her grades were excellent. Sophomore year, on a trip home to California, she was seated next to a guy who was a couple of years ahead of us at our college. This was her first time meeting the ruggedly handsome, athletic yet earthy guy who ended up becoming her boyfriend. Isn’t that just something?! Rebecca was so perfect, could you blame me for hating her? But nobody hated her because on top of everything else, get this—she was also nice! Even her perfect boyfriend was nice. I don’t know what ever happened to them, but I imagine they rode off into a beautiful sunset to an amazing Shangri-la where they frolic among their perfect children and pets, and where they have never once thought to Google my name.

Stay safe and healthy,
