TU Osher News & Notes

What’s your sign?

For ages, some gung-ho astrologers have been pushing the myth that when the planets all align everything else will magically fall into place. Circumstances will be optimal for your dreams to come true. Planetary alignment is a rare occurrence—but, boy, when it happens, it’s smooth sailing. Or so they say. On February 28, 2025, from the Earth’s vantage point, the other seven planets in our solar system came into alignment. To see this celestial event, you needed to be in the right place at the right time under the right weather conditions. Even then, you couldn’t see all the planets so easily. To see Uranus, you needed binoculars. [Insert lewd joke here.] From that moment of alignment, not a single thing that I encountered went right. It’s not that I expected perfection, but everything was a little off. Classroom temperatures swung from sub-Saharan hot to arctic cold. Misunderstandings sparked hurt feelings. Anticipated issues were replaced by one-of-a-kind problems requiring quick thinking action. If I was looking for a sign that everything would come together in absolute harmony, the planet alignment wasn’t it. Then, on the heels of that awe-inspiring event, wouldn’t you know that Mercury decides to go into retrograde—AGAIN! Isn’t Mercury always in retrograde?! I don’t necessarily take stock in all of this, mind you, but I heed the warnings. I come to expect my electronics to malfunction at the worst possible time and I wait for the other cosmic shoe to drop. When Mercury momentarily emerges out of retrograde, I am quick to thank my lucky stars. Things could always be worse.

Stay safe and healthy,
